Biography

1952 Born in Cairns
1976 Associate Diploma in Painting. Queensland College of Arts Brisbane
1978 Diploma of Art. Alexander Mackie CAE Sydney

Joe Furlonger is one of Australia's preeminent landscape painters. He lives and works in Samford Queensland making regular painting tours throughout the State. He is also known for works produced while travelling abroad such as Vietnam, New Guinea, France and China. Furlonger came to national prominence when he won the 1988 Moet & Chandon Fellowship for emerging artists. He went on to win the Fleurieu Prize for Landscape (2002), the Duke Prize (2010) and Tattersall's Landscape Prize (2011)
